From classic acoustic instruments and electric guitars to hardware and software, as well as high-grade lectures, tutorials, workshops and panel discussions, Musikmesse is an important source of information for visitors from the educational sector. The exhibitors in this field include trade associations, music universities and academies, etc.

The ‘Music Associations & Education Forum’ in Hall 8.0 provides a base for associations and educational facilities. The organisations making presentations there include Popakademie Baden-Württemberg, Music College Hannover, Federal Association of Independent Music Schools (Bundesverband der Freien Musikschulen), newmusic.academy and DOMUS, the umbrella organisation for music makers in Germany. The area includes a stage where lectures on aspects of music education in the age of digitalisation and the integrative and therapeutic effect of music are held. Additionally, successful musicians, such as Jost Nickel (Jan Delay’s drummer) and Jen Majura (Evanescence guitarist), and music producer Martin Haas (Glashaus, Xavier Naidoo) will offer tips on careers in the music sector. In the immediate vicinity is the Music Education Lab, where visitors can take part in instrument masterclasses, voice-training courses and creative workshops.

The new area is aimed at everyone from the field of musical education. On all days, lectures, panel discussions and workshops not only offer advantageous insights into new kinds of music teaching for different target groups but also spotlight the prevention and therapy of musician diseases and reveal future perspectives for music, culture and education.

Music making by app or tablet, classic or digital sheet music, a career as a music producer – these are just a few of the many topics you can find out about. On the adjoining exhibition area, educational institutes and associations present their broad spectrum of facilities and services. And, at the Music Education Lab, you can discover everything that conservatoires, academies and music colleges have to offer. Subsequently, you can discuss your experiences and findings over a cup of coffee in our Networking Lounge.

And then, of course, there is the classic ‘Discover Music’ participatory event for young and old in Hall 10.1.
Discover Music integrated and developed the long-running project Musik4Kidz to promote music making among children.
This area not only offers young visitors the chance to take their first musical steps but also represents an attractive platform where all visitor target groups have the opportunity to test instruments.

All Musikmesse visitors are welcome to use the Discover Music area to test instruments to their heart’s content and expand their musical horizons.
Discover Music occupies an area of 1,500 square metres in Hall 10.1 and is thus directly linked to the product halls of the fair.
The area is split into different musical-instrument segments, so each group of instruments forms its own experiential world.
The spectrum covered stretches from classic percussion, via guitars and string instruments, to electronic instruments, such as e-drums and digital pianos.
For both young people and adults, there will also be an area focusing on Recording & DJ.
On hand will be a team of music teachers to help participants how to use the instruments properly, so they quickly play their first notes and gain inspiration for making music themselves.

As in previous years, kindergarten groups from the entire Rhine-Main region are invited to participate.
